Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 March 2026

1. Introduction

QuietCase ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application that helps users log, document, and manage neighbourhood noise issues. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication. You may also use the app anonymously without providing personal details.

2.2 Incident Data

Data you enter about noise incidents, including descriptions, dates, times, severity levels, noise type, and status. This data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore.

2.3 Evidence Files

Photos, videos, and audio recordings you capture or attach as evidence. These files are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage and are associated with your user account.

2.4 Noise Readings

Decibel (dB) measurements taken using your device's microphone. Readings are timestamped and stored with your account data.

2.5 Location Data

If you grant location permission, we collect your approximate location to tag incidents with an address. Location data is only collected when the app is actively in use and you initiate a location-tagged action.

2.6 Subscription Information

Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat. We do not directly process or store payment card details. RevenueCat and the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) handle billing. We receive subscription status information (active plan, expiry date) to manage your access to premium features.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the QuietCase service
  • To store and organise your noise incident records and evidence
  • To generate complaint letters and reports based on your data
  • To analyse noise patterns and provide insights
  • To manage your subscription and premium feature access
  • To send you app notifications you have opted into

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase) located in the Australia region where available. We use Firebase Security Rules to ensure that each user can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may be shared with:

  • Google Firebase — for authentication, data storage, and file storage
  • RevenueCat — for subscription and billing management
  • Law enforcement or legal authorities — only if required by law

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Export your data — Use the "Export Data" feature in Settings to download all your incidents and evidence
  • Delete your account — Use the "Delete Account" option in Settings to permanently remove your account and all associated data
  • Access your data — All your data is visible within the app at all times
  • Withdraw consent — You can revoke permissions (camera, microphone, location) at any time in your device settings

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (profile, incidents, evidence, readings, and letters) is permanently deleted from our servers.

8. Children's Privacy

QuietCase is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
